Indiana Pacers: An update on Tyrese Haliburton's late game injury vs Houston
With under one minute remaining in the game and the Pacers trying to seal the win, Tyrese Haliburton is injured. No worries from the face of the franchise, though.
With under one minute remaining in the game and the Pacers trying to seal the win, Tyrese Haliburton is injured. He was driving to the basket and converted a tough layup — then his foot was stepped on. Haliburton was in pain and had to be helped off the floor despite being able to put some weight on his injured foot/ankle.
However, there is no panic from the Pacers face of the franchise, who had ice on his ankle after the game. Lloyd Pierce who was the acting head coach tonight shared his thoughts on the injury in a post-game media session.
"He said he's okay but they all do. I didn't see what he hurt, I think he had some ice on his ankle, but I don't know what the status is."
The Indiana Pacers have a game tomorrow night at home vs the Orlando Magic and at this time Haliburton’s status is to be determined. If he can’t go tomorrow, you would have to imagine Bennedict Mathurin making his first career start. A lineup of Nembhard, Hield, Mathurin, Smith, and Turner would not be surprising.
Here is a clip of what actually happened to Haliburton at the end of the game:
After the game, Haliburton took to Twitter to give an update on his status, which allowed for a sigh of relief from fans. “I’ll be fine, Go ‘cers”, Haliburton said. He finished the night with 19 points (7/16), 8 assists, and 6 rebounds.
Now the Pacers will head back home to face Orlando in consecutive games before completing a four-game home stand against the Timberwolves and Nets. Currently, the Indiana Pacers are on a three-game winning streak and hold a record of 8-6. This team may not struggle as much as expected, but there is a lot of basketball to be played. If Indiana does have hopes of winning, they will need Haliburton on the floor as much as possible.
Update: Haliburton is officially listed as questionable for tonight’s game against the Orlando Magic.
