The Indiana Pacers and Isaiah Jackson agreed to a three-year contract extension on Friday. Jackson gets $21M per year and will be with the team until 2028.
The deal will have no options and is fully guaranteed. Isaiah Jackson is coming off an Achilles tear, which he suffered in November against the New Orleans Pelicans. The Pacers had three Achilles tendon tears on their roster last season.
Jackson was drafted in 2021 with the 22nd overall pick. Remember, the Pacers did some draft day magic by trading Aaron Holiday to move up and get him after Chris Duarte.
Before his injury occurred, Jackson was the backup to Myles Turner. He is an athletic, high-flying, rim-running big man who is still just 23 years old. In his last full season with the team, he averaged 6.5 points per game and 4 rebounds in 13 minutes of play (2024-25). He has yet to play more than 65 games in an NBA season, but he appears to have grown in size since rehabbing his Achilles.
With Myles Turner out of the picture, the Pacers’ center spot is up for grabs. If anyone can go up and take it, it’s Jackson. (What a terrible one-liner by me.) I like the signing by Indiana, and this helps them keep depth in-house with a guy they liked and developed.
With Jackson having a full season off and a year of rehabbing behind him, there’s a lot to be excited about. He’s put on the size, but the questions of how his game can be impacted by the injury are there. Still, Jackson brings much needed depth and a story fans can cheer on next season.
The Pacers have James Wiseman and Jay Huff on the roster, alongside Tony Bradley, to fill out the center position. With Haliburton out and Myles Turner gone, Jackson gets the chance to prove himself in the NBA with meaningful minutes in 2025-26.
